Chat rooms?

what's the best chat rooms online ? most of the chat rooms nowadays have been corrupted by the porno/dating industry. i'm looking for a chat room or a discussion forum with a selection of subjects where one can discuss things maturely...thanks

1. hmmm..... i know what you mean. most chatrooms are great if you want a bit of horny chat, but search on google and see what results you get.

3. I must totally agree with your assessment. It is indeed overrun by spammers/porn/dating industries.
   
   
   
   However, even within Yahoo there are beautiful kernels. I have found to simply avoid the Romance section, the Science section and the Religion section...and if you want to have a real debate about Politics the chat rooms within Yahoo aptly provide.
   
   
   
   I have used i-village chat www.ivillage.com. Do be aware that they have similar issues but not as prevalent than what is seen with Yahoo. And also don't forget your Internet provider usually has a chat area set aside for locals and each subdivided for more mature, well rounded folks. Also there is the granddaddy of them all: ICQ http://www.mirabilis.com/groups/chat.php?gid=541822 they have decent chatters there...or at least they did when I utilized it.
   
   
   
   There is also Yahoo Groups. That has subclasses of ppl interest and you chat with those folks, frankly I found that to be the most sane. These groups do have chat rooms available however sometimes they aren't utilized--as they depend more on IM's to individuals. groups.yahoo.com

4. I'm a very vocal person, at least I used to be and I would prefer hear someone talking to read what someone is typing. With PalTalk.com you can communicate through Text, Voice & Video (web cam). There are always people from around the world on PalTalk (mostly from the USA, Canada, UK & Australia) with plenty of chat rooms including but not limited to relationship & porn rooms (I think that PalTalk put those rooms in place to steer people that have that interest there and allow the other rooms open for other topics to remain pure. There are also different types of rooms (G, R & A as I remember) that allow you to choose how much of an adult you want to be at any particular time.
   
   
   
   Now as for chat forums for people that are looking for mature intellectual minded conversations I would highly recommend Gather.com. With Gather.com not only do you have great conversations on many subjects, but they actually pay you to chat, in the form of gift certificates to places like Borders Books and Home Depot.
