How can I hang my large dry erase board?

I have a large dry erase board (3ft by 2ft) that I want to hang up in my room. There are no hooks on the back of the board (which has a wooden frame and cardboard backing). Any suggestions will be appreciated.

  1. If it came with no special mounting brackets (a lot of them use hidden brackets), you'll need to drill through all four corners and screw it directly to the wall. Start by getting a good drill. Next, you'll need some plastic hollow wall anchors and screws. Most hardware stores sell them together in packs. A 2-1/2" to 3" (having them too long won't hurt anything) #6 to #10 screw will suffice. Drill a hole in each corner of the board's frame slightly larger than the screw diameter, then hold it up on the wall where you want to hang it. Use an scratch awl or some other slender object to push through one of the top two holes on the frame to mark your location on the wall. Set the frame down. Find your mark on the wall, drill a hole for your anchor (drill bit size will be on the box of screws/anchors). Of course, you may hit a stud. If this is the case, stop drilling if you meet any resistance and leave out the anchor. If no stud is present, insert your anchor and gently tap it flush to the wall. Line the frame up on the wall where you made your first hole and insert a screw through the frame and into the anchor. The frame can dangle there if need be. It's not going to be heavy enough to pull out at 2' x 3'. Get yourself a torpedo level (or someone with a good eye if you don't have one), tilt the frame up until it's level, mark the rest of your holes while leveled and drill them out. Put in the rest of your screws and you're done.

Unfortunately, you'll need at least an awl (a few bucks at the hardware store), #2 Phillips screwdriver and a hammer to do this job. With the awl, it is possible to punch a nice, neat hole in DRYWALL for plastic anchors. Just be careful not to make the holes over-sized, otherwise the anchor won't grab.

    Good luck.
