What is the best ironing board to buy?
I have had a Beldray ironing board for about 20 years (!) and it now squeaks and I need to replace it. Does anyone have any advice for the best make/ model to go for these days?

- not sure about makes but I would advise you go for one that has adjustable height and a wide board so you can iron quicker on a larger area. Also one with a shelf underneath is very useful to put ironed clothes on. Brabantia is a good make.
- one that does the ironing itself is prob the best one!!!
- best one i got was a mini iron board you can fit it on the table or your worktop it is small and doesnt take up much room i got it from woolworths it is £4.99
- any one you can tuck your feet under to get you closer and do more ironing
sorry i dont know but thanks for the points
- If u r in UK buy from Argos ...u have to do only onside...and other Will be done automatically
- DONT WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT BRAND NAMES, JUST TOUCH THE TOP OF BOARD IF THE SURFACE IS WELL TAILORED & THE LINING UNDERLAY IS THICK ENOUGH IT IS GOOD. & THE COVER ON TOP IS NOT OF VERY THIN FABRIC TOO. IF UR IRONING BOARD IS SO OLD IT IS TIME TO TOSS IT OFF & BUY A NEW ONE. IF IT IS STILL GOOD & STURDY U CAN RE FURBISH IT WITH A NICE THICK KAHKI MATERIAL OR THE TYPE THEY USE FOR THE ARM CHAIR BEACH TYPE.
- I've seen one in Argos (I think) that can be folded in half so can be put away - that's the one I will be going for as my Beldray too has seen (many) better days!!
- One with someone to do the ironing would be best. No, seriously, I have one with height adjustment so I can sit and iron in front of the tv. Makes it more bearable.
- Got to agree to the Beldray - got one for a wedding present 17 years ago and still going strong apart from the obvious changes in covers.
- Rowenta IB-6200 Professional Ironing Board - it is sturdy and has a rack where you can hang finished clothes.
- Personally, I'd have the squeak fixed rather than replace it.
Have you look out there lately at the new ones??
Check them out!
- I have a very wide mesh one. The wide ones make ironing a lot quicker and because of the mesh it is light to carry. Also if you put a layer of cooking foil underneath the cover it will make ironing even faster as the foil reflects heat.
